Rev. Rose Lester
The Rev. Rose Lester, born in Chicago, Illinois, was a pioneering spiritual leader whose life was guided by divine revelation and unwavering faith. She was baptized by the Rev. Johnnie Colemon at Christ Unity Temple, the ministry Rev. Colemon founded after her own ordination through Unity School of Christianity in the 1950s. In June 1974, Rev. Colemon established her own organization named as The Universal Foundation for Better Living, Inc. and renamed her church to Christ Universal Temple.
On July 27, 1980, Rev. Rose Lester was ordained by Rev. Colemon, marking the beginning of her ministerial journey. Shortly thereafter, Spirit revealed a divine mission that led her to establish Christ Universal Center for Better Living in Mississauga, Ontario. This ministry later expanded and moved to various locations throughout Toronto, becoming a beacon of Truth and transformation.
Rev. Lester lovingly nurtured many spiritual students, imparting wisdom, discipline, and a deep awareness of Christ consciousness planting seeds that would continue to grow for generations.
Rev. Evan Reid
Among those nurtured by Rev. Rose Lester was Rev. Evan Reid, whose spiritual journey was both profound and transformative. During his studies in London, he encountered the English translation of the Bhagavad Gita. Through its study, he came to understand that ancient sacred writings are to be embraced as metaphors—spiritual teachings pointing to deeper inner truths rather than literal interpretations.
In his thirties, faced with a health challenge, Rev. Evan began a personal quest for alignment with his true divine identity. This search led him to the disciplines of meditation and conscious breathing, through which he discovered the profound power of the mind over the body.
In 1982, he enrolled in the Johnnie Colemon Institute, becoming a licensed teacher in 1985 and an ordained minister in 1987. That same year, he assumed leadership as teacher-director, and later minister, of Christ Universal Centre in Toronto.
In 1995, under his leadership, the ministry was renamed and incorporated as Verity Centre for Better Living Inc. Rev. Evan also served faithfully as UFBL’s Regional Director for the Caribbean and as a valued panel member of the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary Licensing and Ordination Committee. His legacy of wisdom, dedication, and spiritual insight continues to bless countless lives. Rev. Evan Reid made his transition in 2020. The Rev. Barbara Schreiner-Trudel became the interim Senior Minister serving to support the ministry forward until December 31, 2021.
Rev. Lameteria Hall
Today, the light of Verity Centre shines brightly under the inspired leadership of Rev. Lameteria Hall. Rev. Lameteria’s spiritual journey began in Memphis, Tennessee, where she was born into a faith-filled family rooted in the Pentecostal tradition through the Church of God in Christ. After relocating to Chicago, she continued to deepen her devotion and, in her teenage years, answered the call to ministry.
Her path later expanded through a profound inner revelation of God within, leading her to New Thought teachings under the ministry of Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon. In 1989, she was baptized by Rev. Colemon and became a dedicated member of Christ Universal Temple in Chicago.
In 1991, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she founded the One God One Thought Center for Better Living. The Baltimore core members were guided by divine inspiration to recruit the dynamic Rev. Ann Jefferson, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation for a strong, vibrant, and thriving spiritual community in the region. She exemplified the principle of Divine Order in ministry moving with clarity, grace, and spiritual precision. In that same sacred rhythm, Rev. Lameteria continues to march to the beat of that Divine Order, carrying forward the spirit of excellence, alignment, and inspired leadership.
Rev. Lameteria became a UFBL licensed teacher in 1996 and in 2014 her UFBL ministerial ordination ceremony took place in her hometown Chicago, IL. She accepted the call across the boarder and moved to Toronto on January 15, 2022 to serve as the senior minister of Verity Centre. Through her dynamic spiritual leadership, teaching, and commitment to community, she carries forward the principles of Truth, empowering individuals to awaken to their divine nature and live lives of joy, peace, and prosperity. Her ministry reflects both continuity and expansion honoring the foundation while embracing new expressions of spiritual growth and service.
